Are you considering biking to school? Roosevelt University has a bike room located near the Wabash building entrance for you to utilize. It is currently being updated to improve efficiency of registering for access, and to allow for more bikes to be parked/stored. Additionally, digitizing the registration form will eliminate the need to print paper, which was the case with the old system. Current and new users must register online to receive a space in the room. It is open to students, faculty, and staff. The updated bike program will fully launch on Monday, March 28, 2016.
Biking is a great way to stay fit, save money, and reduce your carbon footprint. The majority of carbon emissions worldwide come from fossil fuels used for transportation. Biking and using public transportation reduces carbon emissions significantly. Including manufacturing, a medium sized car emits 191 grams of CO2e per km, while riding a bicycle emits 17 grams of CO2e per km. Roosevelt wants to encourage your sustainable living by offering a space for your bicycle. Be sure to sign up soon, before the room fills, and be a part of Roosevelt’s commitment to sustainability.
Other updates to the bike room include a communal bike pump and reserved spots for Wabash resident students.
