Harvest from RU Schaumburg’s Community garden now served at Food2You

Locally-grown tomatoes from the RUrbanPioneers Community Garden are in!

Locally-grown tomatoes from the RUrbanPioneers Community Garden

Tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, squash make up the more than 80 quarts of vegetables harvested and served at Food2You this season. The gardeners turned compost created from packaging and food waste at Roosevelt’s Wabash building into the soil last spring. Now, more than 25 community gardeners are reaping the rewards after months of tending their many crops. You can share in those rewards, too, by visiting Food2You and tasting Chef Rommel’s latest salad or soup–with zucchini or tomatoes grown right here on campus.
